She was burning!

From the inside out she was being burned alive, Alana thrashed and moaned and screamed as Christopher blood ran through her veins. She felt cool water being used to wipe down her naked body but it was no use, it didn’t cool the fire inside her. Alana heard Christopher’s voice soothing her from somewhere distant, but why? What was wrong with her! Then she felt something new different than the pain she had before, she could hear he own heart beat slow to nothing, but she was still alive, and now she was thirsty. A thirst like no other, but not for water. Christopher could tell when she turned, her body ceased it wild movements and just lay still. Her teeth barred, he could see the fangs form and descend from her gums. He could sense her thoughts and her thirst. Her eyes came open and she focused slowly on Christopher’s face. Her clothes were gone and then she remembered he bit her. Alana felt a surge of fear and she scrambled back to the headboard taking the sheet with her to cover her nudity.

“What have you done to me!?” She screamed.

“Alana, please calm down,” Christopher said trying to reach for her.

“Stay away from me!” She screeched slapping at his hands. “You bring me here and you bite me you sick freak and then you rape me!”

“I didn’t rape you!” He said outraged “I would never!”

“Well why am I naked and why did you bite me!”

“I bit you to save you and you are naked because of your fever.” Christopher explained.

“Fever, what fever how long have I been here?” She asked.

“Three days, it is Saturday afternoon around one.”

“I’ve been out for three days? Why didn’t you call my doctor or Jackie?” Alana asked skeptically.

Christopher sighed. “They could not help you with the fever you have, I caused it.”

“Okay you caused my fever, how did you do that? What did you do to me?” She asked warily.

Christopher looked at her. “I made you what I am, I made you into a vampire.”

Alana stared at him with a look of amazement and wondered how she did not see he was a complete fruitcake. She saw it as funny not wanting to believe that she heard what he just said.

She laughed. “Okay you’re funny Christopher, vampire, shouldn’t I be sleeping upside down somewhere?”
She continued laughing as Christopher looked at her.

“You find this funny?” He asked softly.

“Well of course I do. You expect me to believe I’ve been turned to a vampire just because I’ve been sick for three days? That was probably just the flu or my cancer.” Alana said getting angry. As far as jokes go it was funny but now she just wanted to go home and forget she ever met him.

“Listen to your heart beat Alana, why is it not there”? Christopher asked.

Alana placed her hand over her breast; it seemed like minutes passed before she admitted there was not one thud.

“It…it could be from my being sick or….or the cancer.” She stammered still not willing to believe.

“How does you head feel? Is the headache still there, do you still feel sick?”

She didn’t, for the first time since she was diagnosed there was no headache. Not even a mild one and her mind was clear. Christopher walked over to the window and cracked the blinds just a bit letting one sliver of light that slipped by the shutter land on her arm. It burned her skin and the brightness of that one beam made her shrink out of its path.

“If you are not vampire, why do you hide from the sun?” Christopher asked once again, he could see the truth settling into her and the frightened look she threw his way.

“It’s from me being in the dark so long…..being asleep. It will be better after my eyes get adjusted.” she got up and stood over in the corner of the room away from him.

“Are you hungry, Alana?” He asked softly before her eyes could blink he was standing right in front of her no human could move like that she knew it wasn’t possible.

“Are you hungry?” Christopher asked one again.

“No…no…..just thirsty.”

“What are you thirsty for, juice, water, iced tea?”

“I don’t know what I’m thirsty for. I just am, it’s like I need something I don’t know what.” She said softly.

“Maybe this is what you need.” Christopher said slicing his hand.

Alana watched his blood flow and without hesitation she grabbed his hand and licked the drops hungrily. She stopped herself looking at his hand in horror. She could taste his blood on his tongue, it was like nectar to her, she wanted to bite him and feed. She felt her fangs slide out of her gums and she pressed her tongue against the sharp point. Alana recoiled from him in horror and disgust at herself.

“What have you done to me, Christopher? What have you turned me into!?”
